Venus of Willendorf

Venus of Willendorf

Venus of Willendorf, Austria

This 11 cm high figurine carries an enormous symbolic load; she is heavy with Wisdom! She was found at Willendorf in 1908 when the train track wasbeing installed. Archaeologists have been able to date her to 24000-22000 BC.  She is made from limestone that is not local to the area where she was found.

She is painted with red ochre, the colour of “the fire in the physical” (link ) and that is used so often on the artefacts and depictions  that refer to the human condition within the tradition of the Inner Teachings. She has  no face, no human traits, just 7 circles around her head. She has no feet either just as most of the similar figurines that were found all over Europe and that roughly date back to the same time. That is probably because She was not meant as an expression of a “woman in the flesh”, she is the Great Mother who is not incarnated but to whom we owe our lives. She is an expression of the energy of Love from which we human beings originate. in the flesh, from our earthly fathers and mothers, but on a higher level, the energetic matrix that holds us all. She nurtures us with her energy and she keeps us alive, her two small hands are on her breasts, her sole intention is to nourish us as she is the mirror of Love from the Father and at the same time she quietly reminds us of why we are here; a silent plea to use the fire of the human Yang energies (the ego) to reconnect in the self to the Yin energies and embody the balance between them during a lifetime in order to manifest Love on Earth. In this way we will manifest her on Earth and give her back her “feet” and we will have brought her back out of her hiding place behind the Veil. Probably these people stuck her in the soil to pledge for her energies to set foot in their community…….

So, just like all of us are given birth by our mothers, so the Great Mother has given birth to our universe via the lower triangle on her body, her genitals clearly indicating that we are born into duality. It is our task to bring ourselves Home through clearing the unconscious and subsconscious thoughts and beliefs that shape our daily existence without us knowing it.

The seven rings around her head are the 7 levels of consciousness energy  of the Human Energy Field, the energetic signature of the individual that, on the level of the Mother are dimensions. Between her breasts is a clearly an intentionally raised triangle visible that makes a contrast to the lower sunken triangle of the female genitals that display the duality of this world and that invites the Yang energies to connect to the internal world. We can see that there is “a gap” in between the two triangles, just like on the black figurine from Mesopotamia (link). To cross it we need to surrender our human ego and reconnect to our Higher Selves. Of course this is meant for men and women alike as we all come here in the flesh to work with our Yang energies to rediscover our true identity.

On the spot where the Venus of Willendorf was excavated a life size replica has been erected. In no better way could be shown that the purpose of “Yangkind” has gone lost in this day and age because while the artist took great effort to make an exact copy, he/she did not carve the upper triangle that the original clearly displays; this Great Mother is asleep!

We can learn from this little statuette that the human being who carved her thought of her as energy, as an ideal state of being that could be attained by the offspring of this goddess because the worshipper knew that she/he originated from Love. He/she would have felt gratitude when gazing at this little figurine and she would have reminded the viewers to look within their own internal world for dark thoughts and images.
